My dearest readers,

As I sit here typing this out, I couldn’t wait to share that the most recent thread I’ve been following has led me to a tarot system that has received mixed reviews because of a certain character who drew negative attention for unbecoming actions in their lifetime. I am not here to dredge up the past to highlight someone’s personal choices. But I won’t pretend I didn’t sit with it, because I did.

I reached out to my network for multiple perspectives and found very different responses. I appreciate those who reciprocated the feedback I was seeking. What I keep coming back to is this: no one is above their flaws. Not the mystics, the masters, or the people whose work outlasts the mess of their lives. I’ve asked myself whether the same intensity that made this person difficult and harmful to those around him is the same that let him see what most people spend a lifetime avoiding. I don’t think that excuses anything. I think it’s just the truth of how knowledge gets made, through people who weren’t whole reaching for wholeness.

I was reading an article on Substack when an image struck me: the Star card specifically from the Thoth Tarot Deck. Of course, I had to follow this rabbit hole. Something in my psyche was so drawn to the image that I searched for the artist who worked on this deck. There is a bit of information available, and what I have learned is that she went through a rigorous process to understand what she was working on. She’s the reminder I needed to know that this kind of depth was possible without the wreckage. What fascinates me about learning all of this is that it took a divine feminine to tame a “beast” long enough to achieve a great work and to be with them in the end. I will include links at the end of this if you would like to do your own research. For now, I am sharing just a small piece of what I took from it and how it resonates with me.

What I do understand is that when you break free from a carefully curated narrative and rise above the static, the observant becomes the observer. I rely on my natural ability to discern what is right for me, and when I receive the synchronistic hit, which has been quite a few, I proceed.

What I’ve gained from using systems like this is a stronger connection to my psyche’s abilities. This image of the Star card has opened a thread to Egyptian culture, which I resonate with so deeply. One of my conversations led me to Thoth, and I was amazed at how this archetype came to me and the connection to the energies we are in at this moment. Here is my interpretation.

Embracing change and letting go of fear empowers you, leading toward victory. While you may experience recovery from conflict, it is not a sign of defeat. The discomfort that comes with change is actually a form of growth. Just as birthing life involves pain, it ultimately gives rise to something transformational. You have freed the aspects of yourself that once clouded your mind, allowing for clarity and strength to emerge.

You’re embarking on a new journey toward a stable and fulfilling endeavor. While you may encounter unexpected challenges along the way, your emotional intelligence will help you navigate through them. Stay mindful of where you direct your energy. Trusting your instincts will spark the inspiration you need to guide you on your path.

Be mindful of what you notice when your emotions are triggered, as these shifts affect us all. Consider the difference between actions stemming from your heart and those driven by your ego. Before you react, take a moment to reflect on what you can learn from your interactions with others. Strive to rise above all of it. Clear out the distractions and be conscious of the content you engage with.

Focus on nurturing a grounded sense of self to help you navigate this time. We are all experiencing an energetic shift, and many may find themselves feeling confused about what’s happening. Embrace love from within, cultivate peace in your life, and above all, learn to laugh through this wild and unpredictable journey we call human “BEING.”

What I’d like to add here is that the images in this tarot have much deeper symbolism, so this, I feel, is barely scratching the surface. I have added the card images to the end, and I invite you to look them over and intuit what you find. My initial sense is that a good balance of feminine essence is incorporated.

If the Star is asking to release, the Goddess is telling you to be open to receive. I can’t overlook acknowledging the Goddess, for she is who I am. As I work with this sacred energy, I turn to Isis for guidance. This spread, called the Wing of Isis, asks specific questions.

1. What is the real issue for me right now on a spiritual level?

2. How can I best heal that in my day-to-day life?

3. What will the gift or outcome of this be?

4. What is the biggest challenge or opportunity for me to get to the best outcome?

5. What special guidance is there to help me resolve this in the best way now?

Accept that you are exactly where you need to be right now. Trust that you are blossoming as you walk this path. Now is a good time to work with Sirian energy. Do you practice unconditional love? Fully dropping into your heart space opens your energetic field, allowing an upgrade in your intuition and healing abilities. As I look over this spread and the card beside it, I feel a charge rise through my spine. At the bottom of the deck, I see the available energy, which I visualize as the merkabah spinning in all directions, an electric, synergistic movement.

Trusting what you’ve been through has granted you the wisdom to be exactly where you are today. Staying connected with your soul and knowing with confidence that you are guided will make everything worthwhile and lead to true revelation. You might not see it now, but focusing on that single thing and surrendering to its timing will bring everything together seamlessly.

The gift you receive through surrender is a powerful source of light. Let go of all attachments to the past so you don’t carry them into the present. To break the cycle of fear, detach your awareness from it. This seals small cracks in your energetic field, opening a portal that invites you to expand into a higher level of awareness. The greatest challenge is accepting the past and recalling the lost pieces of your soul. Even the flawed hands that shape our tools deserve the same grace we’re asking of ourselves. Forgiveness is the best medicine; as you incorporate it into your practice, disturbances will fade, paving the way for a renewed sense of wholeness.

Destiny and fate, I no longer see them as opposites. Fate is what’s given to you; destiny is what you choose to do once you realize you’ve been handed something. Right after we wrapped up recording our latest conversation for the Aquarian Cauldron Podcast, I pulled cards. To go a layer deeper, I looked to the stars to see what they had to say as well. What follows is what we are being called toward as a soul family. From the heart-space, I walk alongside you, not ahead of you, not above you. The wound becomes the medicine. Somewhere in you is a healer, not because you’ve been untouched by pain, but because you’ve walked through it. That means humility matters right now, too: seeing life as the gift it is and staying grounded rather than drifting into unconscious choices that only serve you. This moment isn’t for either/or thinking; that’s exactly what creates the friction. It’s a call to bring the sacred back into the ordinary parts of your life. You carry the power to create from nothing, not because you’re special, but because that’s simply who you are.

Stillness isn’t a delay. If your mind has been loud lately, this is permission to stop pushing. Rest on purpose, as a daily practice, not a reward you earn after proving something. Let the noise settle. Clarity doesn’t come from forcing it; it comes from finally getting quiet enough to hear it.

Play isn’t something you outgrow. Remember the dreams you had before you knew better, before “realistic” became a word you used against yourself. Maturity was never meant to mark the end of wonder. And no one or nothing can stop you from fully blooming if you choose to stand in your freedom. Every part of your life flourishes once you do. When was the last time something made you feel unguarded joy?

Knowledge isn’t the same as truth. It’s good to learn, gather wisdom, and sharpen. But don’t let accumulation become an identity you’re defending. Stand for what you know to be true in your bones, not for the pile of data you’ve built a name on.

Taken together, what is being asked of us is honesty over performance, depth over speed, and the courage to turn old pain into something useful rather than carrying it like dead weight. Step forward where you’re called to teach. Step back where you’re called to heal. Choose your people out of respect, not fear. And beneath it all, remember you were never doing any of this apart from everyone else, and never forget that you are love. Stay golden, my soul fam.

“The greatest pain you will ever experience is the love you withhold.” - Darius J. Wright.

I was watching a podcast episode with Darius J. Wright when he said it. I don’t know how else to describe what happened except that something in my chest cracked open. It’s still with me, days later, refusing to be a passing thought. I’ve turned it over so many times since, in quiet moments, mid-conversation with friends, and right before falling asleep. It didn’t feel like advice, but more like something I already knew, spoken aloud. Not because it was unfamiliar, but because it named something I’d never had the language for.

We tend to think of heartbreak as something done to us. Someone leaves, doesn’t choose us back, or can’t give us what we need. That’s the story we’re handed about pain and love, and it’s not wrong. There’s another kind of ache, quieter and in some ways heavier. It’s the ache of love you once felt but never expressed. The words you left unspoken or the intimacy you held back from embracing. Not because the love wasn’t there, but because somewhere along the way, you learned love could be withheld no matter what you did to deserve it.

I’m sure others have come to this epiphany on their own, and my intention is not to offer anything new. I enjoy sharing it with an open heart for others to witness. We are evolving in our own way and at our own pace. For those who follow this journey, I am rewriting a loop for my soul family. To my younger self, you were never alone, and you are loved.

The Conditioning

Conditioning occurs during adolescence through families, relationships, and culture, reinforcing the idea that intimacy must be rationed. That real closeness, the kind that says I see you, I choose you, I love you without hedging. It is either inappropriate or not our place to give. So we learn to love in safe portions. We keep the fullness of what we feel locked away somewhere private, convinced that limitation is what makes us good partners, friends, and people who don’t overstep.

The Root

There’s a fragmentation that occurred somewhere along the way, and we lose pieces of ourselves while trying to find them in others. In part, it stems from the need for control. We learn early that loving someone means they can hurt us, so holding back becomes a way to stay safe. A child learns that love isn’t a given; it’s a reward. It shows up when you’re good, when you achieve, when you meet the terms. It disappears when you don’t, and that becomes a condition of love. The child learns to read the weather, to earn what should have been unconditional, and somewhere in that learning, love itself starts to feel like something you have to qualify for, which means you learn to withhold it, too.

The people closest to us, out of fear or a need to be the center of what we feel, tell us plainly that loving someone too openly is disloyalty, excess, or not our place. Or simply that this love doesn’t fit the mold of what it’s supposed to look like. That was never a rule about love but more about their fear. When you’re the one hearing it, it doesn’t feel like their fear. It feels like a law of nature. By the time we reach adulthood, we lose sight of where certain rules originated. We develop a need to protect love. We label it as wisdom. We call it setting boundaries. It’s a legacy we never chose, yet it dictates our actions.

In alchemy, there’s a principle that nothing in nature remains still. Everything is meant to move, transmute, and flow from one state to another. Love follows the same law. It isn’t a substance to be stored; it’s a current. When we dam a current, it doesn’t vanish. It presses against the walls we build, and it calcifies. Eventually, it turns into something else entirely: grief, resentment, or a slow ache with no name because we never let it become what it was meant to be.

The Revelation

What I no longer believe is that withholding love is the safe choice. I don’t want to reach the end of this life having loved people from a distance because I was afraid of what it might look like to share love. I don’t want to count the moments I stayed guarded when someone needed to know that they are loved. That kind of restraint isn’t wisdom but more like an unpaid debt, and the interest is regret.

Does that sound like some hippie hoopla, maybe? But what I do know is that love is the strongest medicine and the thing that ails everyone. This isn’t a call to be reckless with love or to ignore real discernment about who deserves your closeness. It’s something more honest and is an invitation to notice the difference between choosing not to give love and being conditioned to withhold it. One is discernment, and the other a wound wearing the costume of control. If you have taken anything from this, it would be to know that you have a deep well and what it is filled with. It is love, and you are loved, and to know thyself is the essence of that.

Hello, Cosmic Travelers. Today, I come to you with an insight manifested by three Multifaceted individuals on a journey. During this session, I felt the need to synthesize, in writing, what I gathered from our mirrored weaving. I invite you to sit with your mind and heart open to what you observe in our conversations about how we tune in to the information available to us from a study of systems that help you see a higher perspective. We just experienced the full moon in Capricorn, which not only brightened the sky but also revealed what has been quietly resting in our subconscious.

Have you noticed what your dreams have been about lately?

Dreams reveal what our waking state of mind wants to avoid or what underlying desires drive us. Often, what surfaces is tied directly to the structures we’ve built our identity around, the roles we play to feel secure or worthy. There is a certain mastery in the discipline required to commit to a long-term journey. It reflects the quiet strength of consistently showing up without seeking approval and of building something that truly endures.

It also comes with a shadow side: workaholism, rigidity, and the belief that one’s worth is determined solely by one’s output. This fear of being perceived as “not enough” disguises itself as perfectionism. The full moon helps to reflect on which version of ourselves has been in control through our dreams. Take note of what you’re dreaming.

But dreams aren’t only mirrors of the waking psyche; they’re doorways. I’ve personally experienced astral travel in the dream state, those moments when the veil between worlds feels thin enough to walk through. While some access this naturally, others can find it through a daily practice that quiets the senses enough to sharpen them. Tending to the body as much as the spirit builds the capacity to perceive what’s usually just beneath waking awareness. The unseen worlds aren’t far away. They’re simply waiting for us to slow down enough to notice them.

Within this moment, there is a unique opportunity. Jupiter just moved into Leo, the Sun’s own sign, infusing us with energy for expansion, boldness, and creative inspiration. If you have a dream that has felt small or hidden, this energy encourages it to come into the spotlight. Your dreams can reveal which aspects of your life are influencing your current situation.

Before expansion can occur, there must be a form of letting go. The Drowned King symbolizes this energy-ego collapse; it’s not trying to punish you. It’s meant as an opportunity for renewal. Capricorn’s shadow is facing its own dissolution: the facade of “having it all together” and the armor of control are finally permitted to dissolve. What transforms is vital force itself, symbolized by the Red and White Rose, representing the initial pulse of life that returns once the performance fades away. Through the process of rising in higher consciousness, one is not meant to carry this alone. Right now, the Mystical Sister is active, the sacred ally, the anima, the part of us (or someone in our lives) that connects with the unseen and the intuitive. This energy serves as the antidote to Capricorn’s shadow of isolation, which can lead to pulling inward and refusing to ask for support.

Beneath it all, there is a purpose seeking our attention. Put aside the hustle or urgency; it’s about devotion and vocation. What you find is a light fully realized: it’s not about achievement for its own sake, but about slowly and attentively nurturing what we are truly meant to do. The Sun’s energy, highlighted by Jupiter’s move into Leo, encourages us to fully focus on our dreams, not in a rush, but as part of a continuous practice. What I’m sensing is the balance between two bodies, the solar and the lunar, unifying through the illusion of separation.

I pulled cards from the Circle Of Doors Tarot as the ladies and I were chatting off-camera, and they clarified the energies available to us in this moment. There is magic at our fingertips, and it focuses on how we interact with the collective and how we offer guidance to others when all they are offered is chaos and destruction. The more we focus our consciousness on creating systems that benefit all, the more we, in essence, help others awaken on their path of remembrance.

The answer lies in the word’s etymology. “Mystic” comes from the Ancient Greek myein, meaning “to close,” whether the eyes, mouth, or senses. It gives rise to words like mystikos, meaning “secret,” and mystēs, referring to “one initiated” into hidden rites. Throughout history, this concept has evolved.

From the secretive Eleusinian Mysteries of ancient Greece to its adoption by early Christians, who transformed it from forbidden pagan rites into a symbol of the “hidden” meanings of sacraments and a direct connection with God, the term has taken on various forms. By the 17th century, a mystic was someone who preached mystical theology, and today it refers to anyone seeking an ineffable union with the divine through practices of silence, surrender, and inner vision.

There is a missing piece to this history. On the mystic’s path, people rarely speak of a particular story: the heavy emotions and the weight of experience. In the public eye, it shines with light and revelation: quiet dawns, sudden heart-openings, and moments when the veil thins, revealing clarity in all things. In that instant, a vision unfolds of endless possibilities for a world filled with peace. Yet that image is only an invitation.

When viewed through the mystic’s lens, the true potential of a human being becomes clear. Yet, the most profound insights often come from personal experience. Each shift in your frequency aligns you with this heightened perspective.

To the casual observer, it’s all too easy to scroll past the quotes, the early morning images of lotus poses, and the proclamations of everlasting peace. You might briefly feel skepticism or even irritation, yet something deeper nudges you to pause and engage. For just a moment, the world can seem to sparkle with understanding, offering a glimmer of hope for genuine connection.

For the mystic, the focus extends far beyond surface-level concerns like words, armor, or a meticulously crafted narrative. They pull away, lash out, or lean in harder, believing you can fix what only they can. Yet your capacity to hold such deep resonance is sometimes interpreted as inadequacy or projected onto you as if it’s your fault.

There is nothing cute about a mystic’s shadow; it is not a shortcoming but a heavy, sacred terrain many walk in silence. Interactions and conversations no longer hold the same substance. You are never the same after shedding those layers, as each of your petals unfolds.

As we near the end of a cycle and the wheel of life continues to turn, I offer this reading to you. Drawing on ‘Yin Mysticism’ by Brynja Magnusson, I have selected the Yin-Phase Spread. With keen awareness and focused intention, I navigate this journey using all the tools our fellow travelers have gifted us. I sense a significant opportunity for those who are attentive.

From February 17th to 22nd, it will be crucial to align with your true north. Humanity is experiencing a collective awakening, and while some individuals are just beginning this journey, others are further along. The key for everyone is to approach this with compassion for all involved.

Let’s begin. What is taking new form, leaving the old behind? Moon. We all experience different phases in our journey of growth. As we enter this full moon phase, our subconscious brings to light the issues that require our attention before we can progress to the next stage. Ignoring these feelings only leads to repeating the same cycles. Take a moment to reflect: Where do you find yourself in this cycle? Are there any lingering attachments you need to release?

Finding purpose in and grieving. Vesica Piscis. As I read this, a chill ran down my spine. There is a portal, an irrevocable doorway. Once you step through, there’s no turning back. Take a moment to mourn what you’ve left behind, but don’t cling to it. Just because this opportunity has opened for you doesn’t mean your journey is complete. Instead, focus on finding balance in this new chapter of your life and in what is being born anew.

Innovation or chaotic discovery. Heyoka. This is about exploring whether you’re on the right path. But what if you approached it by doing the opposite of what’s expected? Sometimes it’s perfectly fine to be the outlier and challenge the norm. We often hear there’s only one way to do things, but perhaps it’s in embracing the balance amid the chaos that we uncover the truth.

Death and rebirth, or restarting. Hypnosis. Your subconscious is trying to communicate with you, holding the keys to your hidden desires and the guidance you need to move forward. But how do you tap into this inner voice? It often feels like an uphill battle in your waking life. You may find that things aren’t going as planned, but that’s just your subconscious trying to grab your attention. Exploring methods to dive deeper into this can be beneficial.

Quality of limbo. Yin Sacral. Your well-being largely depends on the support system you have established. It’s crucial to prioritize your health and take time to recharge. Set clear boundaries to avoid burnout and unproductive outcomes.

Nourishing, creating, building up. Yin Excess. An energy imbalance can lead to health issues in your body. The key is to restore that balance. While it’s straightforward to identify what’s wrong, it’s crucial to prioritize self-care. Taking the time for yourself can make all the difference. Start small, start now, and see the changes slowly integrate into your life.

Discover what suits you best, as everyone has different approaches. However, the key takeaway is that our collective mental health takes precedence.

Dearest reader,

I’ve been sitting here trying to find the right words to tell you how much you mean to me, and for those of you who are new here and have only recently joined. Sometimes I overthink these posts, wanting them to feel just right, but the truth is I’m simply in the experience, living it day by day, and what matters most to me are the relationships we build along the way. Lately, one theme keeps showing up in my life: reciprocity. The quiet, beautiful give-and-take that happens when we truly see one another. In a world that’s always rushing toward some unknown “somewhere,” I find myself pausing more often, asking: where are we all hurrying to, exactly?

Just as I was drafting this, something made me stop. For the second day in a row, a bird flew straight into my window. I looked out and saw the poor thing sitting on the ground, stunned and shaken. My heart went out to it immediately. I closed my eyes and sent it healing energy. Moments later, its mate swooped in, landed nearby, watched, stayed close. It didn’t fly away. It just stayed present, caring, connected.

A little while later, I checked again. The stunned bird shook itself, stretched its wings, and flew off. Now, as I finish writing this, I can hear both of them outside, their playful voices singing. What started as a moment of shock transformed into one of resilience and celebration.

Watching that small, tender moment reminded me why relationships feel so sacred. Whether it’s two birds looking out for each other or you and me sharing this journey through these words, every interaction holds a mirror. In each person we meet, in every exchange, big or small, there’s a piece of ourselves reflected. A soul’s journey, I’ve come to believe, is really about remembering who we are through these reflections.

This moment in time brings me to something that feels essential, yet goes unnoticed: the different ways we each handle our inner wounds, our “complexes.” A few recent conversations with friends gave me a gentle nudge from the divine to lean into this topic. It started with me sharing an observation, and what unfolded felt like quiet guidance worth passing along.

I said: “It’s about the differences in how we interact with one another and what we each tend to focus on, the reactions we have to every experience. Men often project their complexes outward onto others, while many women internalize them, which can lead to shutting down emotions.”

My friend responded thoughtfully: “You’re right, it’s a fascinating lens. The contrast in how we experience, process, and respond to the same moments reveals so much about our conditioning and perhaps even our deeper nature. Both are protective responses in their own way, but neither truly heals the complex unless it’s brought into awareness and met with honesty and compassion.”

That exchange stayed with me. While there are patterns that show up differently across masculine and feminine energies (and yes, those differences matter), this isn’t about boxing anyone in by gender. It’s about recognizing the tendencies we all carry, to some degree, and the ways we protect ourselves when something unresolved is triggered.

Projection pushes the pain away; internalization pulls it deeper inside. Both keep us from fully feeling, seeing, and releasing what is necessary to heal. The real medicine, as my friend said, is awareness and compassion first toward ourselves, then toward the person standing before us, who might be mirroring exactly what we need to see. The simplest, most vital part of that medicine is taking the time to listen to one another. The currency of real connection isn’t material; it’s the moments we give a thoughtful reply, a gentle check-in, a quiet presence when someone shares something vulnerable. Those small acts of attention are what weave us together.

I want you to know that while I don’t send longer posts every day, and that’s never been my intention, it doesn’t mean you’re not on my mind. I think of this community often, holding space for each of you as I walk my own path with authenticity and genuine intention. You’ll also notice I share smaller pieces of myself through Notes on Substack, a little at a time, like breadcrumbs of presence. As a Projector in Human Design, my energy does not work for constant outflow; oversharing drains me quickly. So these shorter notes are my way of staying visible and connected without burning out, allowing me to keep showing up for you (and for myself) in a sustainable way. My hope is always to reflect a little more light, to help you see the radiance that’s already inside you, even on the days when it feels dim.

I want to share a recent conversation I had with a fellow Aquarian that took a fun turn. We’d been swapping war stories, and one reel flipped the script. A zodiac savant is breaking down shadow traits with the precision of a stand-up comic. What I realized is that shadow work doesn’t have to be rigid, and when you connect with someone who sees the world through the same cracked lens, the darkness turns into a playground. I couldn’t help but laugh as those words flowed, and sometimes, some situations deserve statements like these. It’s also a healthy reminder that shadow work isn’t complete when you close your journal; it wraps up when our bodies stop bracing for impact.

(We’re using this thread as our collective pressure valve. I want to offer different perspectives on ways to transmute the emotions that come with this deep work. It’s real and no sage required. It’s a way to release tension when our inner demons start making noise.)

I am that fellow Aquarian, and I have to say, I’ve equally enjoyed getting into shadow work through humor. (Thank you, Chris, for sending me the reel and starting that laughter) I’ve found it more healing than going into the depths. And don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being in the depths!

But sometimes, you just need to laugh. That laughter can be enough to heal layers and lifetimes. The creator of the aforementioned reel has become one of my favorite zodiac channels, and I’ve been healing and elevating while looking at my Aquarian shadows with another Divine Feminine Aquarian.

Shadow Work. Blah Blah Blah.

The intentional practice of noticing, naming, and integrating the hidden, rejected, or denied parts of yourself, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or traits you’ve pushed away because they feel “bad,” “weak,” or “unacceptable,” so they stop running your life.

Depth is where I love going, and it is refreshing to be able to do that with this DFF (Divine Feminine Friend). I used to believe that the darker aspects of myself were villains, and I associated them with shame. After understanding that they are more than that, I discovered that my shadows aren’t evil; they’re “glitchy code” in my internal system. The more I name them, the less they crash the program.

What if the shadows we often see as flaws are actually features? For example, jealousy isn’t a virus; it’s more like an early warning system signaling that you actually care. Or numbness, you’re not “checking out.” You’ve been through too much, and shutting down to stay safe.

When do we stop labeling it as a bug and start paying attention to what your triggers are saying instead?

I’ve also been giggling through the entire process of co-creating this post. Shadow Work 3.0 has become a beacon of light in my life. Who knew Shadow Work could be so fun?

I’ve been known to take myself too seriously. So this has been an invitation to leave that seriousness behind and laugh at myself. We’re not perfect. Not any of us. So, why do we beat ourselves up for our flaws when we can laugh them into the light?

Like Renell, I’m also a very deep person. Living in the depths is my happy place. Shadow Work is something I naturally did my entire life without realizing I was doing it. When I discovered Shadow Work through my spiritual journey, it gave a name to something I’d been told I was wrong for exploring my entire life.

Be happy. Lighten up. Why are you so down?

Well, now I know I was looking at the shadows within myself and within the world. The shadows most people don’t want to look at. I wasn’t sad or mad. I was contemplative. I was curious. I was the quiet observer. And I still am!

The only difference is I’m not apologizing for it anymore.

Am I willing to look at my shadows through a lens of love, and maybe even laughter?

Hypocrisy allows us to preach what we don’t practice, while impulsivity scatters our futures to the wind. Tribalism turns neighbors into adversaries, cowardice abandons the vulnerable, and ingratitude sneers at those who extend their hands. These flaws are not anomalies; they are part of us, woven into the very fabric of every heart. The real question isn’t whether these shadows exist, but whether you dare to confront them and choose a better path.

In my previous article, I touched on the Wounded Healer, Chiron, whose narrative of pain turned into wisdom mirrors experiences that leave scars, but can also nourish empathy and inspire us to heal from them. I came across Richard Rudd’s The Myths of Chiron & Pholus. This two-part article deepened my connection to my musings on the Wounded Healer.

In the myth, Pholus, the centaur who guards sacred wines in a hidden cave, uncorks a single jar at Heracles’ request. This moment is marked by the sharp “pop” of the seal giving way, releasing an intoxicating scent of fermented Earth and wild honey that fills the air like forbidden nectar, its sharpness igniting the senses and stirring the blood. The chaos that ensues drives the nearby centaurs to madness, culminating in tragedy, as Pholus himself falls victim to a stray arrow.

This myth illustrates how small catalysts can create significant shifts; a single truth articulated, a boundary drawn, or a hidden shadow brought to light can unleash a wave of change that reshapes everything. In Richard’s article, he explains Pholus symbolizing these pivotal moments, urging us to confront the unchecked forces within.

Rudd ties Pholus to the alchemical process of purification, where the sacred wine symbolizes forces that “kill off certain aspects of our lower nature” to birth unified consciousness. As Rudd notes, “Every element of your own life that you find disturbing is an aspect of your Shadow awaiting your embrace, and in it lies the counterbalance to your higher vision.”

Why do we fear this mirror? We fear it because of the control we believe we must hold onto. I had no control over my experiences when I was younger, so as I became an adult, I subconsciously held onto the pain of it. Change is a vital part of our growth, and when we sense control slipping away, something whispers, “You are weak,” or “Who do you think you are?” Looking at myself in the mirror has helped me understand what drives humanity. The deeper I look into these facets, the clearer it becomes: the clenched fist I once thought was protecting me was really just guarding the wound. However, that wound doesn’t tell the whole story. Beneath it lies a light, untouched by anything that has ever hurt me, a light I was born with. The same light that once flickered in fear now learns to blaze unapologetically. I didn’t need to control everything; I just needed to stop abandoning myself.

Each time I look into my own eyes and refuse to flinch, I reclaim a spark of that light. Every time I label the whispers as the lies they are, another door swings open. I’m not forcing reality to change; I’m reshaping it through remembrance. The world doesn’t bend to my will; it reflects my willingness to embrace it. So, I laid down the armor built from past pain, piece by piece, and I stepped into the darkness not to fight it but to illuminate it from within. And as I rise, the light is no longer a secret I keep; it becomes the signal I send out. What I attract now isn’t just a result of what I survived; it’s a reflection of who I have become: awake, unashamed, and undeniably free.

Humility is key; to me, it’s shown in asking for help, signaling the qualities we crave: connection, guidance, shared transformation over isolation. In a culture worshipping independence, reaching out is revolutionary, inviting others to hold space for our unraveling. There is no finish line to this race; it’s a spiral of discovery, each layer deepening our harmony.

Social and mainstream media often skew our self-perception, breeding anxiety and apathy. Just think about how a single viral post can spark outrage or numbness, revealing unexamined aspects of ourselves. To cultivate a healthy mindset, recognize these influences, acknowledge the shadows within ourselves and others, and approach them not with judgment but with curiosity. Question why circumstances are affecting you or why they may be happening. This skill can be enhanced by understanding archetypes, which helps us confront challenges more clearly and develop resilience.

Pholus reminds us that unaddressed shadows, whether personal or collective, can escalate into chaos, as apathy can spread from one heart to create global divides. However, by looking in the mirror and uncovering the driving forces behind our responses, we can transform chaos into renewal, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

On the other side lies a truth that belongs solely to you. Much like Inanna, who at each of the seven gates leading to the Underworld stripped away her crown, her lapis beads, her royal robe, her breastplate, her gold ring, her measuring rod and line, and even her very name, until she stood fully exposed before her sister Ereshkigal. She was judged and hung on a hook to wither for three days and three nights; yet, she rose again, reborn, carrying the weight of her own darkness now in her open hands.

That is the blueprint.

What I’ve learned is that the past is a collection of stories meant to help us recognize the sacredness of our humanity. I know this does not align with the start of this thread, but Dr. Estés’s work is about the primal layers of the psyche. As I’ve explored these concepts from various angles, I’ve gained the ability to recognize archetypes within myself and others: the quiet strength of the Wounded Healer, the untamed fire of the Wild Woman, and the patient wisdom of the Mystic. We cannot escape the pain through distractions, endless wars, mindless consumption, and superficial fixes because the alternative is too intense. To break the cycle, we’d have to stop, look at the blood on our hands, and ask:

What have we done?

What are we still doing?

But that takes courage we haven’t yet found.

So we stumble on, young and divided, passing our wounds like torches in the dark—the wounded healer weeps, not for our pain, but for our refusal to face it. Until we do, the loop will hold us in place.
